Behind the name
In January 2020, The Spokesman-Review published Rick Misterly’s firsthand Albino Kush review. He identified the producer as Lazy Bee Gardens in Winthrop and described a sample purchased in Spokane.
That gives the name a documented setting and date. It is evidence of a particular reviewed sample, not a claim that the writer identified the original creator of every variety using the name.
Misterly described his sample as pale grey-green and dusty-looking, with little remaining leaf. Growers Choice separately explains its Albino Kush name through a description of white flowers and leaves.
These accounts refer to their own material. They should not be combined into a promise that every specimen looks identical. The strain name alone also does not establish a botanical diagnosis of albinism.
The newspaper reviewer recorded a floral, pepper-like aroma and noted that his sample was unusually dry. Those observations belong together: his account describes what he encountered in that particular sample.
A sensory review is most informative when its context remains visible. An observation about one specimen should not become an unqualified statement about every future photograph, batch or same-named entry.
The firsthand review does not establish a two-parent pedigree or identify an original breeder. The naming explanation from Growers Choice is also not a complete historical chain connecting its material to the reviewed sample.
We therefore keep the accounts separate. Kush remains part of the recorded name; it is not enough on its own to assign a particular parent, geographical origin or relationship to another entry.
Both names can prompt a reader to imagine pale flowers, but that is not evidence of a family connection. White Widow has its own history and separate profile in this library.
