The strain library
Follow a named hybrid through its parent varieties, its recorded history and the small botanical structures that give cannabis flowers their distinctive appearance.
Behind the name
Green House Seed Company identifies Super Lemon Haze as a cross of Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze. The names of both parents help explain the name of the resulting hybrid.
A parentage statement describes a relationship. It should not be read as an instruction to combine the numerical specifications of two other varieties. A separate named hybrid deserves its own description, rather than a mixture of copied parent profiles.
The breeder records first-place High Times Cannabis Cup results in 2008 and 2009. These dates give the profile a specific historical reference.
The useful distinction is between an event and a present-day specimen. An award belongs to a documented competition entry; it does not measure every later plant carrying the same name. Keeping the date and source together makes that historical detail easier to assess.
A cannabis flower photograph can show several different structures close together. UC Davis distinguishes the projecting stigmas from trichomes, the small surface structures associated with the flower.
The longer thread-like structures are not the same thing as the fine surface covering. In a sufficiently detailed photograph, separating those features gives a more useful botanical reading than simply describing everything as white hairs. A picture can illustrate structure; it cannot provide a chemical analysis.
Keep the full variety name when following references. Dropping a word can lead to a different entry, and an added cross name or seed label can describe another version.
For this profile, the anchor is the breeder account cited below. When comparing another description, start with its author, full name and stated parentage. This keeps similar-looking names connected without treating them as interchangeable.
Green House describes a citrus-led profile with woody and pine-like notes. That is its sensory description, not something that can be established from a photograph.
A photograph, a historical record and an aroma description each contribute a different kind of information. Keeping those roles separate makes a profile more informative without turning it into a list of unsupported promises.
Super Lemon Haze FAQ
It is a named cannabis hybrid. Green House Seed Company lists Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze as its parents.
No. In the breeder account used here, Super Silver Haze is one of the parent varieties, not another name for the resulting hybrid.
It records recognition of a particular entry at a particular event. It is useful history, rather than a universal specification for all later specimens.
No. Visual appearance and aroma are different kinds of evidence. Sensory descriptions should remain attributed to their source.
No. A variety name and a label such as feminized or autoflower describe different things. Read the complete entry rather than inferring the label from the name.
