DNA Genetics says Chocolope was originally called D-Line and debuted in the 2000s as a tribute to chocolate-associated varieties of the 1980s.
An earlier name helps connect older references to a familiar modern heading. We retain it as part of the breeder’s history rather than creating a second library entry for the same naming account.
The breeder’s Chocolope record lists OG Chocolate Thai and Cannalope Haze. The combination links the chocolate-associated name with the Haze parent.
Full names are useful when following a pedigree. Chocolate Thai is a parent reference here; Chocolope is the resulting cultivar name. They should not be swapped simply because the wording overlaps.
DNA Genetics describes an earthy, sweet aroma with coffee, pastry and chocolate associations. Its appearance account mentions golden tones, green and brown streaks and orange pistils.
The sensory words are comparisons, not ingredients. A coffee-like description does not establish caffeine content, just as a chocolate association is not a declaration that cocoa has been added.
