In an interview originally published in SKUNK in November 2015, Ken Estes recalls receiving an unnamed purple variety through a friend. He says he introduced it at his Oakland club under the name Grand Daddy Purp.
His recollection gives the name a human and geographical setting. It is an oral history from a person involved, rather than a laboratory reconstruction of the plant’s ancestry.
